Lyrics
Lyrics translation
It was a black winter — we thought we were dying,
We thought thirty-seven would be like heaven.
Bridges floated everywhere and capitals burned,
And, like empty canvases, empty faces.
Suddenly they froze on the Nevsky, as in a General portrait,
And we were saved by love, we exulted like children.
Warming up love with an undiluted piano,
We saw everything domestic, as if from under a yellow veil.
They looked with eyes like greyhounds at hares,
As on oak tables we danced barefoot.
And lit up the pub like two lights,
Going to a different reality — like gone with the wind.
It was a terrible time — the country froze like jelly,
And only on the verge of Gorenje we remembered that people.
We wrote poems, my brother turned on my brother,
We simplified the element by the sheer force of the Mat.
And the world rolled into a thorn with inextinguishable inertia,
And we kept love in an undying heart.
