Lyrics

Alles war ganz still. Dolores weinte. Es wurde dunkel.

They stood on the edge of a hill and looked down on a bald wide plain. Black Rock towered over each other at some distance to a wall of gigantic proportions. An icy cold Wind that blew incessantly up the slope made Dolores shiver. "That's it, Dolly! Beautiful, isn't it?"- the thing that lived in Ben's belly laughed viciously, " Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! A paradise for my master, hell for the Rest! Well, that's what it looks like here, without all the dream pictures, without the whole masquerade! Do you see the children down there, at the foot of the wall? Don't be shy, Dolly, go down and sit down! Play a little with them in the ashes and dust until your time runs out and we come to get you!"Dolores ran down the hill, the Wind swelled, the tears burned on her cheeks. As she approached the wall, she noticed that there was not a single passage, door or gate. The children crouched alone or in small groups in front of the tower-high bulwark and bullied into nothingness with lifeless eyes. Some swerved mechanically back and forth where they were sitting, others drove over and over the dusty ground with dirty hands, as if there was something to discover there. Some laughed, but most cried or screamed. Dolores ' eyes wandered along the wall, desperately seeking an exit, and indeed, all at once, she stood at the foot of a large door that seemed carved directly into the Black Rock of the wall. She had no handle and yet no keyhole. Dolores pressed, pushed and dug her little fingers into the tiny doorway. "That's not how it's going to work!"- cried Ben, whom she had carelessly dropped,- " you'll never get it open!"Dolores picked up the Teddy and hit his belly as hard as she could: he should finally stop being so mean! "It's a wonder you found the last door!"- the voice inside Ben hissed unimpressed, - " maybe I was wrong in you?""What is that door?""This is the last door. It leads you either here or directly to the greatest of your nightmares. Either-or. Exactly, you do not know that until you have crossed the threshold." Dolly pushed herself against the door as hard as she could, but she didn't move a Millimeter. "You open them with your thoughts, not with your hands! Or maybe you're afraid of what you might find behind it? Your worst nightmare, Dolly, what can it be? I? No, certainly not! The Lemurs? Possible! The Tree Women? Unlikely! The Collector? Yes, we are getting closer! How was that when he reached for your golden hair with his groping feelers? Were you not afraid, he could suddenly whisper with you in a familiar voice: "Don't worry, my little princess, this remains our secret!“"Dolores' throat was suddenly constricted. She threw herself with last strength on her Teddy and tore the fur on his belly apart. But there was nothing, no voice, no eyes, only the cotton filling and his tinny speaking machine. At that Moment the last door opened silently. Dolores picked Ben up and stepped right in front of the entrance. She looked intently into the semi-darkness. Somewhere further back, she seemed to be able to make out the contours of her nursery. Everything was very quiet. "I was just dreaming," thought Dolores, "in reality nothing can happen to me." Now she also clearly recognized the window in front of her bed, the moonlight fell from there faintly on the ruffled ceiling with many colorful horses on it. She took a step forward, then paused. Hadn't something just moved, there in the shade next to her bed? Was there someone sitting in the darkness waiting? She could not see it from here with the best will. Either-or. There was only one way to find out. Dolores stepped over the threshold. A cold breath came into her limbs, she pressed Ben even more tightly to herself. "I love you!"- he leered one last time and fell silent. Dolores cried. It was getting dark.
