Lyrics

Lyrics translation

In the Steinwald once lived a king in the mountains
A tale filled with glory and honor
On his throne before the stone table he sat
His beard therefore grown twice gained in Measure
The Lord's feet were bedded on a dog
As protection from enemies a second chained in front of the gate
The Raven Hunin sat on a barrel full of wine
Drew his circles over the mountain's gloomy Grove
Eyes and ears of the King's messenger he was
The news about the world out there infallible
As often as the Lord's beard grew round the table
The bird was freed from his command
The Her and his squire drank the wine from humps
But the richly decorated jugs would never be empty
In the mountain the King had a great army
Armed with shield, sword, axe, and spear
Ready for battle, he often exercises it in the weapons
Thunder unleashed over the mountain to create distraction
The army full of fervor lacked blood and death
The Lord put his men under the spell of his lust for battle
His Bat has overcome the last hurdle of the table
Never again wine would gush in the throats
From the mountain the King burst forth with his hosts
To the last quarrel they urged with eerie chorus
