Mein Freund, der Fritz, hat mir
An guten Witz erzählt —
Jetzt ist mein Herz so schwer!
Der Witz war wirklich gut

Es trifft der Blau den Grün —
Vielleicht auch umgekehrt
Und sagt: «Wie geht es dir?»
Drauf sagt der Grün zum Blau —
Oder auch umgekehrt:
«Ich hab' ka Geld bei mir!»
Sie reden dies und das —
Worüber, weiß ich nicht
Ein Wort löst's andere ab
Dann kommt der Kohn dazu
Und der, der sagt auch etwas —
Was ich vergessen hab!
Und dann kommt die Pointe —
Grad die weiß ich nicht mehr!
Der Witz war aus. Der Fritz ging weg —
Mein Herz war schwer!
Ich ging bedrückt nach Haus
Und sagte selbst zu mir:
«Wer hätte das gedacht
Dass mich mein eigner Freund —
Vielleicht mit Absicht gar —
So, so melancholisch macht!»
Und drum, drum verlang ich am Ende
Nur eins von dir, mein lieber Fritz
Wenn wir uns wiederseh’n:
Erzähl mir was du willst — nur kane Witz' !
