Резвились волки, коз загнав,

Волк не отводит в страхе глаз,
Он сам бы рад понять отказ,
Отказ от соучастия в расправе.
Быть может, волчий смолк инстинкт —
Такого не случалось с ним.
Но и в другой раз коз он жрать не станет.
Готов платить за это долг,
Но ложь, что больше он не волк,
Он волк, и он докажет это стае.
Сейчас докажет, выйдя днём
К лосю, охотнику с ружьём.
К кому угодно, равному, но силе.
Вот он уже со снега встал…
Но нет — вожак подал сигнал,
И стаей всей отступничка казнили.
